A memorial service for Robert W. "Bob" Short, 62, of Chickasha, will be held Friday, September 19, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church, Chickasha, OK.
Bob was born November 14, 1940, in Houma, LA. He passed away September 14, 2003, in Oklahoma City, OK, after a lengthy illness.
He graduated from Marlow High School in 1959.
After serving in the U. S. Army from 1960-1962, he was honorably discharged.
He continued his education, earning two degrees from Central State University, a BS in elementary education in 1967, a masters of education in elementary administration with certification, Certification Standard Reading Specialist K-12, Certification Standard Elementary Education K-8, and Provisional Level II Superintendent. Post Graduate - 16 Hours Elementary Administration, 20 Hours Reading Specialist Certification from CSU and OU.
Survivors include his wife, Janeice of the home; two daughters and sons- in-law: Shelly Collins and Floyd of Edmond, Sheryl McCarty and Gerald of Verden; four grandchildren: Charles Collins of Stillwater, Kate Collins of DeRider, LA., Katrina and Tyler McCarty of Verden; sister and brother- in-law: Susie Johnston and Jerry of Edmond; sister: Diane Hunter of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Kenneth and Cecelia Richey of Duncan; two nephews: Tony Allard and family, Wade Heckus and family, both of Norman; one niece, Kim Richey of Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Geraldine Short, and also maternal and paternal grandparents.
