Mary Ellen Short, 72 of Dewey, Oklahoma, passed away on June 30, 2025.
Mary was born on December 12, 1952, to parents J.D. and Barbara Ellen (Vinita) King in Claremore, Oklahoma.
She married her beloved husband Ricky Jo Short on August 10, 1979, and they shared 45 years of loving marriage together. To this union five children were born. A devoted wife and loving mother, Mary built a life of love. The faithful homemaker was the heart of her family. She kept everyone and everything together.
Mary had many loves in her life, including her dogs and fish. She enjoyed spending her time out in her yard. She loved her flowers.
She was a great cook, her fried chicken being a favorite amongst the family. She loved doing crafts and going to Cherokee events.
Mary is survived by her husband, Ricky; her children, Mistie Pollard, Shawn Short, Jack Short, and Jeana Short Boyd; two sisters, Carla Meason and Deb King; one brother, Ernest Ellison; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Barbara; one sister, Connie Collier; and her son, Jason Short.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2025, at 4AllHumanity Church, 301 S. Creek Ave., Bartlesville, OK 74003. Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Davis and Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 4201 Nowata Rd., Bartlesville, OK 74006, 918-333-7665.
