Harold Homer Short
February 4, 1942 ~ October 29, 2018

Harold Homer Short was born February 4, 1942 in Marshall, Oklahoma to Sarah Lucrecia (Polley) and Elifus Frank Short. He passed away October 29, 2018 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 25 days.

Harold moved with his family to Elk City at the age of 9. He attended school at Elk City graduating in 1959. After graduation he moved to California where he worked for Proctor and Gamble before returning back to Elk City. Upon returning, Harold began his career in the oil field driving a truck hauling pipe and rock to locations. In 1981 while working for Hodge's Trucking company he met Cynthia Jean Buffham and they were later married on June 18, 1983 in Elk City, Oklahoma. After their marriage they moved to Phoenix, Arizona for a short period of time before returning to Elk City to make their home. Harold continued to drive a truck and served as a statewide private process server until just recently. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, cooking, watching football and wrestling, bird watching and telling jokes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Cherry Short; 1 son, Todd Buffham; 2 brothers, Tommy and Robert Short; 4 sisters, Gertrude Roush, Roberta Bostick, Patricia Stockton and Wanda Short.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, of the home; 5 children, Kelly Short, Minnesota, Shelly Alford, South Carolina, Cecilia Smallwood, Oklahoma, Richard Short, Oklahoma, Dalton Short, Arizona; several grandchildren and great grandchildren including: Dustin and Dee Dee Day, Treyton Owens, Markus Day, Ivey Day, David Owens, Jackie Owens, Triston Owens, Ty Owens, Michaela Brown and Robert Alford; 2 sisters, Shirley Wilson, Enid, OK and Madeline Randlett, Elk City, OK and a host of other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Whinery Funeral Service.
