Billy David Short, 47, of Bartlesville, died Saturday, June 23rd 2012 in Bartlesville.
Billy was born on April 9, 1965 in Aire, MA the son of Richard L. and Ruth Ann Short. The family moved back to Bartlesville in 1968. Billy graduated from Caney Valley High School in 1983. He was united in marriage with Jeannie McKinnon in 1984 in Bartlesville. Four children were born to this union. Billy enlisted in the army and served in the First Calvary at Fort Knox, Kentucky from 1989-1993. In 1992 Billy and Jeannie divorced, after completion of the military Billy moved to Claremore where he began his education at Rogers State College and earned a degree in Horse and Ranch Management. With this degree, he became the Barn Manager at Rogers State College and was also a well-known Ferrier. Billy later owned Split Bar Communications.
Billy was an avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting, fishing, shed hunting, and riding his motorcycle. His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his passion for dancing and his joyful smile.
Billy is survived by his parents Richard L. Short of Chattanooga, TN and Ruth Ann Short of Galena, MO; girlfriend, Leia McLain of Bartlesville; four children, Jessica Rodriguez of Bartlesville, Janie Short of Bartlesville, Houston Short of Dewey and Dylan Short of Copan; one sister Tracy Short of Tulsa; one brother Leon Short of Cassville, Mo; three grandchildren, Alex Rodriguez, Blake Short and Tucker McCann all of Bartlesville and nieces, Lindsey Short of Dewey and Shylo Short of Ochelata.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Billy Short fund at RCB Bank, 4224 SE Adams RD, Bartlesville, Ok 74006
A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at 12pm on Friday, June 29th, 2012 at First Assembly of God, 900 S. Dewey Avenue, Bartlesville, OK 74003. Billy's family would like to welcome anyone who has created a memory with him. The meal will be a Potluck, so please bring a dish of your choice to share. Following the luncheon, Pastor Larry Miller will be officiating memorial services beginning at 2pm at First Assembly of God. Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Family Funeral Home.
