Linda Kay (Scott) Shipley
July 30, 1944 ~ September 1, 2024

Linda Kay Shipley was born on July 30, 1944, in Salina, Oklahoma, to Neal and Naomi Elizabeth (Holt) Scott. She departed this life on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. Linda was 80 years old.

Linda graduated from Salina High School with the class of 1961. She was a lifetime Mayes County resident. On Valentine’s Day in 1964, in Pryor, Oklahoma, Linda married Lee Shipley. Their marriage, lasting over 60 years, was a testament to their enduring love and devotion. Lee was known for his generous nature, often surprising Linda with diamonds, reflecting her refined taste and love for the finer things in life.

Linda was a member of the Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Her and Lee had also been members of the Elks Lodge in Pryor, Oklahoma for over 35 years. Linda dedicated her life to serving others by cooking and cleaning. She was a great cook and truly enjoyed feeding many people throughout her lifetime. Linda had owned and operated several businesses over the years, including the Hut Café’ and Cooks Restaurant. Later, she served as a cook at the Pig-N-Out in Salina, Oklahoma for over 10 years.

Linda enjoyed going to the casinos. She enjoyed traveling with Lee to different destinations, but especially liked Branson, Houston, and Tunica. Linda loved to shop and was known for her fine taste. She liked to talk on the phone all the time and she liked to visit with her family. Linda loved her grandkids very much and could always be found attending her grandkids sporting events over the years. She would most often be the last person to leave the football field, even after the field lights were turned off.

Linda was a beautiful woman who always made sure that her hair and makeup was fixed. She was very caring towards others. Linda was known for her stubborn streak and her love for diamonds.

Linda is survived by: her husband, Lee Shipley of the home; 3 children: Travis Shipley and wife Zelinda of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Linda “Muffin” Boudreau of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Sarah Skaggs and husband Bowie of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; 8 Grandkids: Travis Shipley and wife Demi of Big Cabin, Oklahoma, Trent Shipley of Inola, Oklahoma, Lindsey Crase and husband Dillon of Centerton, Arkansas, Brodey Boudreau and Courtney of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Mattie Boudreau and fiancé J.J. of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Tammy Maner of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Hunter Skaggs and wife Kaetlin of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Josh Hooker of Pryor, Oklahoma; 9 Great grandkids: Oaklee, Shianna, Levi, Kasen, Brayleigh, Baker, Emma, Kyler, Keira, and Sutton; 2 sisters: Connie King of Pryor, Oklahoma and Sharon Russell and husband Larry of Salina, Oklahoma; and a nephew raised like a brother: Larry Holloway of Salina, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; 1 daughter: Tammy Hooker; 1 brother: John Scott; 3 sisters: Rose Miller, Wilma Sinor, and Lois Crawford; as well as numerous other siblings.

Funeral services were held 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Pastor Mary Jane Austin and Pastor Edna Kiddy officiated. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
