John Shilling, 54, of Blanchard, Oklahoma, went home to be with his Lord & Savior, Friday, November 17, 2017.
John Harrell Shilling was born January 23, 1963 in Olney, Texas. He was the son of Jim and Mary Shilling. John was raised in Pampa, Texas, graduating with the Class of 1981.
After high school John joined his father in the family business, Packer Repair & Service. On August 27, 1982, John married his best friend and the love of his life, Debbie Albin in Pampa. He later began working for the Celanese Chemical Plant. In 2002, John and Debbie moved to McAlester, where John started working at the Tenaska-Kiamichi Power Plant. In 2011, John accepted a job with OG&E, and the family settled in Blanchard. John was Shift Supervisor at the McClain Power Plant.
John was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. Although a genuinely quiet and simple man, John had a passion for sharing the love of Christ with others. Whether on a mission trip, or at a group Bible study, John was a champion for Christ. He truly had a servant's heart, and always put the needs of others before his own. He was a man of strong faith. He served as Deacon of Calvary Baptist Church, Pampa, TX. & First Baptist Church, McAlester Ok, and was a current member of First Baptist Church, Newcastle, Ok. He was a member of The Gideons International, and served in many other areas including, most recently, "The Pathway of Hope Cancer Care Ministry." John cherished Debbie, his boys, and adored his grandchildren, Avery and Addison. He was loved by many, and will be deeply missed!
He was preceded in death by: His grandparents, Vivian Young and Richard and Josephine Shilling.
John is survived by: His wife, Debbie of the home; His sons, Aaron Cochran and wife Amber of Pampa, TX and Mitch Shilling of Moore, OK His parents, Jim and Mary Shilling of Pampa, TX 2 sisters, Angie Friend and husband Mark and Missy Watson and husband Trent, all of Pampa; His grandchildren, Avery and Addison Cochran; Several cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Celebration of Life Services are scheduled for 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle.
Interment is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at the Memory Gardens Chapel in Pampa, TX.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Monday, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle.
Memorials may be made to the John Shilling Memorial Fund % First Baptist Church, Newcastle, The Gideons International or Reaching Souls International.
