William Dayle Shietze of Norman, Oklahoma passed away on February 1st, 2016 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 72 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
William Shietze was born on January 24th, 1944 in Kokomo, Indiana. He was the son of Armon and Esther Shietze and attended West Middleton High School and graduated in 1964. William joined the military in 1964 and served his country in the Vietnam War. His time spent serving his country included 3 tours to Germany and one tour to both Korea and Hawaii. When serving in the United States he spent most of his 22 years in the Army at Ft. Sill in the Lawton, Oklahoma area.
After his retirement he enjoyed time as a Mason 32nd degree and loved the outdoors. William loved dancing every Saturday night and enjoyed watching OU football and Thunder basketball.
He is survived by his wife Wypkje Shietze, his sons Egbert Shietze and Paul Shietze and his daughter Esther Klein.
William had 5 Grandchildren-Charlie Shietze, Briana Klein, Brooke Klein, Cassandra Antal and Justin. William Shietze was a man dedicated to his family and country.
