Jerry "Mike" Sherman, 76, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away on April 13, 2026, in Stillwater. His memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Mike was born on May 29, 1949, in Norman, Oklahoma, to E. Warren Sherman and Billie Sue Sherman. He grew up in Oklahoma and carried with him a strong work ethic and love for the outdoors throughout his life.

On July 28, 1977, Mike married Terry Heckendorn in Dallas, Texas. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and a shared dedication to one another.

Mike worked at Norman Public Schools, Oklahoma State University, and in industrial equipment sales before ultimately serving as a trooper with the Oklahoma State Highway Patrol for 28 years. His service was a source of pride and commitment to his community.

A man of many interests, Mike found joy in boating, hunting, fishing, cowboy action shooting, and traveling. He was also a member of Life Church in Stillwater, where he valued fellowship and faith.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, E. Warren Sherman and Billie Sue Sherman.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Terry Sherman; sister, Karen Ross of Norman; sons, Ryan (Jaimi) Sherman of Lonetree, CO and Rick Simkins of Silverton, CO; daughters, Stacy (Chad) Hutchison of Stillwater, Tristy (Kirk) Fryer of Tulsa and Tammy Anderson. Rick is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Baleigh (Kevin) Mansfield, Corbin (Stephanie) Hutchison and Haley Hutchison. His great grandchildren Gabriella Hutchison, and Brodie and Bryant Mansfield, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family would like to extend special thanks to friends and the staff at Legacy Village Memory Care and Life Care for their compassionate care, support, and love. Their kindness and gentle attention brought comfort to Mike and his family during this difficult time.
