Funeral services for George Wilson (Buck) Shepherd, 88, of Dover, will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at World Harvest Church with Pastors Damond Burpo and Mike Sturgeon officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy. Services are under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors.
George was born on September 15, 1927 in Sylacauga, Alabama, the son of Troy Simpson and Annie Mae Green Shepherd, and passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 6, 2016 at his residence. He was raised in Sylacauga prior to enlisting in the United States Navy. He served his country from December of 1944 until his honorable discharge on August of 1946. George married Faye Ann Graffam in Farmington, New Mexico on August 26, 1955. They moved to Poteau, Oklahoma, then lived in Arkansas, and, in 1972, made their home in Dover, Oklahoma., George was a diesel mechanic by trade but was a master at repairing almost anything. He was a member of World Harvest Church.
Survivors include son, Jay Shepherd of El Reno, Oklahoma; daughters, Denise (Tommy) Fletcher of Enid, Valarie (Bill) Tillman of Hennessey, Tami (Peter) Streit of Frisco, Texas, Kelly (Dave) Byington of Dover, Wendy Shepherd of Frisco, Texas, Kristy (Jason) Benites of Enid; twenty-two grandchildren, forty-nine great-grandchildren and counting; three great-great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in passing by his parents, wife, Faye; daughter, Holly Drake; Grandson, Trent; granddaughter, Jessica; one brother, Troy Simpson Shepherd, Jr.; sisters, Butch Brown, Nita Lackey, Betty Hastie, Fay Bussie.
The family has selected, World Harvest Church, as appropriate for memorial donations with the Stittsworth�s coordinating. Remembrances may be shared online at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com.
