Mr. Orville Sheline, 88, a longtime Dewey resident, died at 2:15 A.M. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Claremore Veterans Center.
Memorial services for Orville Sheline will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Dewey United Methodist Church with Pastor Dale Durnell officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Orville was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 20, 1928 to Orville R. and Leila (Downey) Sheline. He grew up in Bartlesville and Dewey and graduated from Dewey High School in 1948. His Dewey football team won the State playoffs in 1947 and his nickname was known as "Gas". He married Joan Ella Hampton in Bentonville, Arkansas on August 11, 1951.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1951 until 1954. Orville and Joan Sheline made their home in Dewey where he worked as an auto mechanic at Ray Alberty's auto repair shop in Bartlesville specializing in front end and fiberglass work. He soon became an expert with fiber glass molding and this led to his passion for designing, building and racing micro midgets. Orville was even featured in an issue of Car Craft magazine in the 1960's. He later joined Reda Pump in 1969 as a field service representative troubleshooting pumps in the oil field. This led to extensive travel all over the U.S., Alaska, and all the way to London and the Middle East.
Orville retired in 1990 and spent his leisure time camping, fishing and barbequing with his family and friends.
He was a member of the Dewey United Methodist Church, the Moose Lodge, was active in coaching his son's baseball teams, and competed as a Micro Midget race car driver from 1959 until 1964.
Orville is survived by two daughters, Vicki Royer and husband, Chuck of Bartlesville, and Misti Montgomery and husband, John of Houston, Texas, five grandchildren, Tyler Royer and wife Jana, Colby Sheline and wife Amber, Casey Sheline, Kiley Doiron and husband, Gerry, and Chase Montgomery, and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, his wife, Joan Sheline in 2000 and his son, Dennis Sheline in 2011.
