Edward Joseph Sheldon, Jr. was born the 5th of July 1929, in Ponca City, OK, the son of Edward J. and Jessie Oglevee Sheldon. Ed left this earthly life January 11, 2014 at the age of 84 years. Ed grew up loving woodworking, fishing, hunting and caring for all sorts of animals, including dogs, rabbits, reptiles, pigeons and exotic birds. Later in life he passed these hobbies and loves on to his children with many camping trips and hunting expeditions.
He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1947 and worked for a short time before joining the Army during the Korean War. He was a (Temporary) Staff Sergeant, Company E, 2nd Battalion Calvary stationed in Augsburg, Germany from 1948 to 1952. He played baseball for the U.S. Army while there.
After being Honorably Discharged from the Army, Ed returned to Oklahoma, where he enrolled at the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1956 with a degree in Business Administration. It was there he met the love of his life, Ann Croom Cox, whom he married in 1954. They have been married for 59 years. After graduating from O.U., he worked for Foley's Department store in Houston, TX before beginning a career with Continental Pipeline, a division of Conoco. In 1964 he left Conoco and opened a farm equipment store in Independence, KS. A move to Bartlesville, OK came in 1965 and he began a 15 year career as Vice President of Plaza National Bank, retiring in 1980.
All of Ed's life he was active in many Bartlesville community organizations including- First Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Post #105, Bartlesville Sportsman Club, Eastside Kiwanis, Eastside Sertoma Club (former President). He was also a member of the University of Oklahoma Alumni Association, Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and the National Rifle Association.
His love of hunting brought him to be a member of Ducks Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, and the Oklahoma Wild Turkey Federation-Bartlesville Chapter. One of Ed's hobbies was making turkey Wingbone calls which he gave to many friends, relatives and NWTF chapter events in Oklahoma. In 2001 and 2004 the National Wild Turkey Federation magazine "The Caller" featured an article about Ed and how he made his turkey calls from three turkey hen wing bones. The Three River Limbhangers honored Ed by naming and hosting the Ed Sheldon Wingbone Wingding Calling Competitions.
To cherish the memory of Ed's life he leaves his wife Ann of Bartlesville, daughter Elizabeth "Beth" Sheldon West and Will Moore of Tahlequah, OK, son Paul D. Sheldon and wife Sue of Nashville, TN, son Brian S. Sheldon and wife Laura of Edmond, OK, grandsons Jesse L. Lewis and wife, Summer of Tahlequah, OK, Andrew D. Sheldon of Madison, WI and Donald E. Sheldon of Brooklyn, NY, granddaughters Susan M. Sheldon and Kimberly N. Sheldon both of Edmond, OK, two great-granddaughters, Lilly A. Lewis and Julia R. Lewis of Tahlequah, OK.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Oglevee Sheldon, father Edward J. Sheldon, Sr. and sister Jessie Ann Sheldon.
Ed left a legacy of sharing his love of the outdoors to many he mentored through the years. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Services for Mr. Sheldon will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, January 17, 2014 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Hanna Peterson Shearer of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Full military rites will be accorded to Mr. Sheldon by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105 Ceremonial Detail.
The Sheldon family will receive guests for a reception at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.
