Douglas Ray Shaw

Aug. 19, 1926 ~ Nov. 9,  2003

No better father, no better friend.

Douglas Ray Shaw was born in Valley City, ND, on 19 Aug. 1926, as the sixth child of William James Shaw and Faye Stillings Shaw. Doug arrived 15 minutes after his twin sister Dot's birth. He passed away 9 Nov. 2003, at the age of 77 in Norman Regional Hospital, Norman, OK.

Doug was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Pacific Theaters for World War II and the Korean Conflict. He then practiced in the education profession until retirement in 1987 when he pursued his hobbies of family, woodworking, and genealogy.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Billy and Bobby), two sisters (Betty Faye and Dorothy), as well as an infant brother.

Doug is survived by his wife Charlotte Ann Shaw of the home, his son Rodney Shaw (Sacramento, CA), his daughter Catherine Shaw and husband, Dick DeDonder (St. George, KS), his daughter Ramona and husband, Tim Lawson (Bremerton, WA), his son Mark and wife, Michelle Shaw (Blanchard, OK), his daughter Rayanne and husband, Michael Carpenter (Blanchard, OK), and daughter Rebecca Shaw (Blanchard, OK). Doug is also survived by seven grandsons: Michael Shaw, Jonathan Shaw and wife, Nikki; Joshua Hensley; Noah Hensley; Nolan Lawson; Zackary Carpenter; and Carson Douglas Shaw. Doug is further survived by seven granddaughters: Erin Shaw Hensley and husband, Nick Talbot; Brooke and husband, Nic Schoonover; Jessica Hensley; Thea Lawson; Maevis Lawson; Chardee Carpenter and Sierra Shaw. Additionally, Doug is survived by two great grandchildren: Jonathan Shaw and Liberty Shaw. Finally, Doug is survived by many friends with whom he was able to share thoughts, laughter, coffee and friendship.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday, November 14, 2003, at 4:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Blanchard.
