Stanley Curtis Sharp age 68, of Wayne, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 18, 2018. Stanley was born on January 13, 1950 in Purcell, OK. He was the 3rd child of four children born to Lloyd Curtis Sharp and Hazel Edith (Powell) Sharp. Stanley grew up on a farm and learned how to work hard as a young boy. He kept that same work ethic throughout his life by working as a farmer and cattleman in the Wayne community.
Stanley graduated from Wayne High School in 1968, and during his senior year he was the quarterback on the football team.
Stanley married Mary Beth Hatman in 1969, and together they had two children, Angela and Dan. Some years later he remarried, marring Shirley Lansdale. They were married for nearly 35 years before she passed away in 2015. On June 25, 2016, Stanley married Sherry Ann Beams and they made their home west of Wayne.
At different times throughout his life Stanley raised cotton, peanuts, corn, soybeans, wheat, milo and alfalfa. He also raised cattle and kept feeder steers on wheat pasture during the winter. Farming was his life and the only tractor he used to farm with was green. The last two tractors that he drove off the assembly line at the John Deere plant in Illinois.
Not only did Stanley live and work in Wayne but he was active in the Wayne Community. He served several years on the Wayne School Board, he served many years on the Wayne Farmers Coop Board and he served many years on the McClain County (FSA) Farm Service Agency Board.
His passion in life was making sure that the appearance of the Hopping Cemetery was maintained and kept mowed, either by himself or by other family members.
Stanley had very few hobbies other than working, serving on various agriculture boards, reading the newspaper and watching old western on TV. He remained a supporter of the Wayne Schools and also enjoyed watching Wayne high school football. He will be greatly missed by his family and his friends in the Wayne Community.
