Thomas Michael "Mike" Shaffer
June 2, 1949 ~ Nov. 14, 2015

Thomas Michael "Mike" Shaffer, born June 2, 1949, to Lillian Jean Shaffer James and Thomas Edwin Shaffer in Wichita, Kan. He passed from this life Nov. 14, 2015, at St. Mary�s Hospital in Enid. They moved to Concord, Calif., where Mike attended Mt. Diablo High School and graduated in 1967.

In 1969, Mike joined the United States Air Force, where he served as a cook for only a few years. He completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He was assigned to the Air Force Technical Training Center at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi for specialized schooling as a communications-electronics specialist.

Mike moved to Pond Creek in 1975, where he made his permanent home. He worked for Larry McGivinney through harvest and then took a position as bartender at the 81 Tavern. He began working for Marvin Bules Construction in January 1978. He was there for 21 years, and because of health issues, he worked in computer repair and sales until his death. He also worked part time at The U.S. Department of Energy Atmospheric Radiation Measurement Program Southern Great Plains Climate Research Facility as a Rawinsonde Operator located in the rural area of Grant County near Salt Fork.

On Dec. 17, 1977, Mike married Jackie Moore Shaffer. They were married for 37 years. Mike and Jackie had a daughter, Andrea Jane Shaffer Dillon, in October 1980. During this time the family had many vacations, where they enjoyed camping, fishing and being with family and friends.

During the last few years, Mike enjoyed dressing up as Santa Claus for grandkids and other family members, as well as the Community Health Center in Wakita, Okla. He enjoyed life to its fullest and always made you smile or laugh.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Lillian and Thomas, as well as his sisters Deborah Stewart and Goldradean Shaffer, and other family members.

He is survived by his wife Jackie, Pond Creek; daughter Andrea and Jesse C. Dillon III, Pond Creek; one granddaughter Jessilynn Cayden Dillon. He had twp nephews, Delaire and Tracy White of Enid, and great-nieces Bryanna Wolf of Missouri and Bailey White of Pond Creek, and great-nephew Jette White, Cody Stewart of Enid; two great-nieces Tomeiya and Mya Barwick; a niece Whitney Stewart of Enid and great-nephew Killian Stewart; along with many more nieces and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home Pond Creek. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov.19, 2015, at the First Baptist Church Pond Creek with the Rev. Les Washnock officiating. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.
