Thomas J. Settle

Thomas J. Settle
December 11, 1945 ~ May 31, 2020

After a long and courageous battle with lung cancer, Tom passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2020. Tom was born on December 11, 1945, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Muskogee High School in 1964 where he played on both the basketball and golf teams.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, J.R. Settle, his mother, Portia Settle, and his sister, Patty Moore. Tom is survived by his children: Gretchen Pacheco of Chandler, Arizona; Thomas J. Settle, II of Tucson, Arizona; and Elizabeth Settle of Tucson, Arizona; his grandchildren Merry-Elizabeth Anajean Pacheco, Dominick, Charlize, Portia and Porter Settle; and his siblings Bill Settle, Michael Settle, and Hilary Pipkin.

Tom was a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. He served honorably in the United States Air Force. Tom later worked for Yaffe Iron & Metal. Tom attended Northeastern State University but left school to help care for his mother. Tom was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Muskogee. He remained an avid fan of the University of Oklahoma throughout his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's honor to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2130 W. Okmulgee Ave., Muskogee, OK 74401.
