Shane Semmel, 50 year old Woodward resident passed away, Tuesday, August 13, 2024 in Oklahoma City. The family will have a celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 17, 2024 in the Woodward High School Auditorium.
Shane Russell Semmel was born October 15, 1973 to Bob Russel Semmel and Ima Jo (Ramsey) Nelson in Mooreland, Oklahoma. Shane grew up in Woodward and moved to Yukon from 1987 to 1990. He later moved back to Woodward for his senior year. Shane was inducted into the United States Air Force in 1992. He received a National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He was stationed with the 820th Red Horse Squadron as a Senior Airman. Shane was honorably discharged in 1996. He was united in marriage to Janelle Marie Fisher on March 6, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple then made their home in Woodward for 25 years.
Shane worked for the BNSF Railroad as a Signal Inspector. He enjoyed hiking, anything outdoors, woodworking, cooking, traveling, fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his baby girl Natalie, two boys Mason and Riley, his grandson Ridge, his dog Mesa and his family.
Shane is survived by his father, Bob Russel Semmel; mother, Ima Jo Nelson and Pops, Norman Nelson; two sons, Mason Russell Semmel, Riley Conner Hedges; daughter, Natalie JoAnne Fierstos and husband Mica Raine Fierstos; brothers, Jeremy Alan Cozad and wife Lori Cozad, Lyle Baldridge, Kyle Baldridge; sisters, Bobi Lee Semmel, Candace Nicole Evans and husband Tyler Blaine Evans, Kristi Downing of Texas; grandchildren, Ridge Raine Fierstos and one on the way; step-mother, Peggy Lee Jones of Woodward; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother J.B. Semmel, grandparents, Joe and Imogene Ramsey, Bob and Betty Semmel, Bud and Wilma Nelson, one cousin, Gage Gregory and many other loved ones.
