Graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., Thursday, August 19, at 1:00 p.m. for Barbara Ellen Flippin Seifert, 69, who passed away August 14, 2004, in Bakersfield. Reverend Tim Duncan will officiate.
Barbara was born July 9, 1935, in Altus, Oklahoma to Willis and Vernie Flippin. In 1945, the family moved to Buttonwillow where she attended grammar school. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1955. She was a housewife and mother to her five children. She was most comfortable and happy around children. She enjoyed being able to have her children and grandchildren spend time with her during her last months.
She is survived by her children, Rose Sylvia, Mary Wilson, Michael Seifert, Stephanie Landry, Beth Wiggins; six grandchildren, Ruby Miller, David Branson, Faith Wiggins, Heather and Tiffany Wilson, and Chad Wolfe; great grandson, Tanner Miller; her brother, Kenneth Flippin of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Erma Willey, Imo Jean Graham, Wanda Hays and Kay Cox of Bakersfield and Sandra Nagel of Ridgecrest.
Barbara expressed a desire to be baptized. After much prayer and thought, she accepted Christ on August 1, 2004. She was baptized August 6, 2004 by Pastor Doug Davis of Calvary Bible Church. The family thanks all who prayed for her and witnessed to her during her illness.
Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
No visitation is scheduled.
