Hazel Ann Seidle of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Saturday, September 10, 2016, after a long illness. Born in Durant, Oklahoma, on May 9, 1942, to Ivan and Luceil Little, she attended schools in Lacey and Ames, Oklahoma. After high school, she attended Oklahoma State University, where she earned her degree in Education. She met her future husband Neal T. Seidle at OSU's Edmon Low Library. They married a year later and continued their education while living in married student housing in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
After a short stay in Oklahoma City, she and Neal returned to Bartlesville with their young daughter. There, Hazel taught at Bartlesville's Horace Mann Elementary and Douglas Schools. In 1968, she retired from teaching (her son was due that fall) and dedicated herself to raising her children. In Bartlesville, she participated in community activities with the Bartlesville Service League Organization. She baked love into every batch of her special chocolate chip cookies, a favorite of family and friends. Occasionally, she would arise early on a weekday to whip up a batch of warm cookies for Neal to share with his co-workers. She fully supported her children's activities. She drove Terry all around Oklahoma to table tennis and tennis tournaments, and helped Todd with Boy Scout merit badge requirements and rooted from the stands at his baseball games. She loved to spend time in her garden, nurturing and tending the plants that would provide all sorts of vegetables to nourish her family. In 1983, the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. She and Neal enjoyed working in the yard together, attending OSU football games, traveling to beautiful beach locations and visiting the grandkids. She especially loved taking family trips with her adult children and watching her grandchildren develop a love for travel and adventure. Later, she followed in her mother's footsteps by learning to quilt. In creating beautiful blankets for her children and young grandchildren, she left a legacy of love behind. Even in death she remains a teacher; her body was donated to science so that others can learn.
Her parents Ivan and Luceil Little preceded her in death. Survivors include her loving husband of more than 50 years, Neal, of the home; Daughter Terry Slagle and husband Chris of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Son Todd Seidle and wife Christy of Rogers, Arkansas; sister Marilyn Corder and husband Karl of Penfield, New York; Brother-in-law Steve O'Neil and wife Judy of Guthrie, Oklahoma; Sister-in-law Janice Weston and husband George of Fairfax, Oklahoma; and nephews and nieces Chris Corder and Wendy Argento, Andy Weston and Jennifer Hutchison, and Maris Russell and Megan McKinney, along with numerous cousins. She has three grandchildren: Craig and Audrey Slagle, and Ariel Seidle.
Neal, Terry and Todd wish to extend heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the caregivers who enriched the quality of Hazel's life during her illness by providing exceptional and compassionate care: Diane Downing, Sherry Withers, Glenda Howard, and the caring staff at New Century Hospice in Tulsa.
Hazel's family will welcome friends at a reception to celebrate her life on Saturday, September 24, at Montereau, 6800 South Granite Avenue, from 1-3pm. Please feel free to wear bright colors.
