There will be no services for Elly (Seidel) Wendler Sears, age 94, of Cleo Springs, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Elly (Seidel) Wendler Sears was born in Burgsdorf Kiers Kreuzburg, Poland on February 14, 1929 and passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023. She as raised in Germany with her family and survived WWII during her teenage years.
In 1953 she met and married Gerald Lee Sears, an American serviceman stationed in Germany. In 1955, Elly and her two children, Irene Sears and Helmut (Hal) Wendler were able to migrate to the United States to be with Gerald.
They owned two different gas stations in Cleo Springs, OK. In 1971, they purchased the Foothill Lodge in South Fork, Colorado. Elly loved to bake and all of her customers got a fresh loaf of bread.
Elly was a hard worker all of her life in every business they had. In the early 1980s they moved back to Cleo Springs and ran the Curve Gas and Deli. Elly was known for the delicious homemade food she cooked and sold to all the crews that came through the Curve.
In her retirement years, Elly enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, quilting, cooking and baking. She was an excellent cook. Elly and Gerald traveled with friends to different retirement destinations. They moved back to Cleo Springs, and lived there until their passing.
Elly is survived by her children, Hal Wendler of South Fork, Colorado, Rene Littrell and husband Bill of Cleo Springs, Oklahoma, Karen Swan od Cleo Springs, Kurtis Sears and wife Cala of South Fork, eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, her parent, three brothers and a sister.
