Jane Mary Scott

December 4, 1836 ~ July 11, 1916

Mrs. Jane Mary Scott was born December 4, 1836 and died Sunday, July 11, at 3:40 p.m. at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 7 days.

At the age of sixteen Mrs. Scott was converted in the Presbyterian Church and has since lived a consecrated christian and member of that church.

On March 25, 1863, she was married from which union there came five children, three of whom remain to mourn the loss of mother. Mrs. Scott has been a helpless invalid for some time. Last fall she sustained a broken leg which added to her affliction. She was a patient sufferer all along, attended tenderly by her daughter and grandchildren, Mrs. McMillan and family, and passed away as quietly and peacefully as if only fallen into a sleep.

The funeral services were conducted from the residence by Rev. Robert W. Faulk, the Presbyterian pastor, assisted by Rev. J. Y. Bryce, the Methodist pastor, after which she was laid to rest in the city cemetery.
