Edward Earl Scott

Edward Earl Scott
November 10, 1951 ~ January 02, 2020

Memorial Services for Edward Earl Scott, 68, of Fairview, will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church of Fairview. Pastors Rusty Husted and Charlie Newman will be officiating. Arrangements by the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Edward was born November 10, 1951 at Fort Benning, Georgia to Howard Earl and June Estelle (Beall) Scott and passed away on January 2, 2020 at his home in Fairview after his long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Edward’s father was an Assembly of God Minister causing the family to move from place to place; however, in 1969 they moved to Fairview and shortly after his dad passed away. Ed finished high school at Fairview, graduating in 1970 and then moved to Weatherford and started his college education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. In 1972 he moved to Norman and attended Oklahoma University to continue his business degree. After going to school at OU, he became a more avid OU Fan.

In 1976, Edward met the love of his life, Becki Bell and they were married on August 17 of the same year and returned to Fairview in 1980. They were soon blessed with their first son Timothy and in 1984 their second son Andrew. When they moved back in 1980, Ed went to work with his brother-in-law Mike Ewing and Beryl, Barnard in the heating and air business. In 1983 he went to work for USG as an electrician. In 1985 he was diagnosed with MS and shortly after was medically retired.

He retired but never quit and was always busy. He was a member of the Lions Club. He ministered at Serving Christ out Reach and held many bible studies in the community. He also served on the board of directors for Serving Christ out Reach. After he was diagnosed with MS, his faith in Christ sustained him in his 33 year battle with the illness. Ed was a loving husband, father and friend that will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Becki, of the home; two sons Tim and Andy Scott, one brother, Steve Scott and wife Teresa, one sister, Sheryl Ewing and husband Mike, and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, Howard and June and one sister Donna Moore preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the OMRF – MS Division with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc acting as custodian.
