Betty June Scott

Betty June Scott
February 29, 1928 ~ January 6, 2022

Betty June Scott passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 6, 2022 at the age of 93 at her family home in Pawnee, Oklahoma. Betty was a Leap Year Baby, born on February 29th, 1928 in Pawnee, where she graduated from high school and was educated at both Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma University. She studied Microbiology at college.

Betty was married on August 11, 1950, to Judge Robert J. Scott, whom she met at OU. They were devoted to each other and enjoyed 61 years together in Pawnee until his passing in May of 2012. Betty was the mother of Mark Scott of Edmond, and Steve Scott of Pawnee, who both survive her and will forever miss her unwavering love and companionship.

Betty is also survived by her sister, Sue Myers, of Edmond, along with Betty’s extended family of relatives throughout Oklahoma and Texas who will miss her dearly.

She was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Pawnee, and was actively involved in PEO and CWS social and charitable organizations. She has maintained close friendships with members of these groups for many years. Betty was an avid bridge club member and enjoyed creating art for the family home. Betty, with her husband, were active members of a regional Square Dance Club at one time. Over the years, Betty traveled with her husband and their close friends, including trips to England, Europe and Mexico and a very recent Caribbean cruise with family members.

In recent years, Betty especially enjoyed family dinners and time spent outside on her oak tree shaded backyard patio, and the songbirds and squirrels that entertained her.

Betty’s physical and emotional well-being during her last few years in the family home were supported by her sons, friends and family, but special recognition is due to the extraordinary loving care provided by her caregivers and hospice staff.

A memorial service at the First Christian Church will be held at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Betty June Scott memorial fund at the First Christian Church, P.O. Box 227, Pawnee, OK. 74058.
