Schwartz, Robert L., 74, departed this life May 17, 2011. Robert was born to Frank A. Schwartz and Else Breckwoldt Schwartz on October 4, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York.
Robert moved to Norman in 1956, graduating Sigma Nu with a degree in business from the University of Oklahoma. A successful businessman, he was President of Schwartz Meat Company for 33 years, serving the restaurant industry in 40 states, with distribution locations in Oklahoma, Florida and Louisiana. He built Schwartz Farms, a 1500 acre facility which Robert was very proud and passionate about. He is best known for his love of fitness and running, where he even created a pay-based Aerobics program with Dr. Kenneth Cooper of Dallas, TX to all his employees. Robert loved and supported his Alma Mater, especially The OU College of Business where he made many friends and associates. He was an avid sailor, gardener, runner, woodworker and he loved the Oklahoma Sooner football.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard Schwartz of Idlewild, CA.
Robert is survived by his children, daughter, Kari S. Pratt and her husband Steve of St. Louis, MO, son, Robert L. Schwartz II and his wife Lilla of Garland, TX and son, James L. Schwartz and his wife Brook Beavers of Norman, OK; his grandchildren, Lauren Pratt, Stephanie Pratt and Ben Pratt of St. Louis and Emmalee Schwartz and Jake Schwartz of Garland, TX.
Memorials may be made in memory of Robert to The Sooner Club, 180 W. Brooks Ste 3575, Norman, OK 73019 or the Parkinson's Foundation, 720 W. Wilshire Blvd. #101C, OKC, OK 73116.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 11, 2011 in the Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St., Norman.
