Burlington – Graveside service for Eva Dixie Hall Scholes will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2009, at Morgan Cemetery, Morgan, Texas, under the direction of Lawson Funeral Home of Meridian,Texas. Local arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Cherokee.
Eva Hall was born June 24, 1906, in Houston, Texas, and passed from this life Thursday, July 30, 2009, at 1:45 p.m. at Beadles Nursing Home in Alva, Okla., at the age of 103.
Eva was a member of the Church of Christ. She first married Jim Ireton early in her teen years. After his passing, she married Lee Scholes and he also passed away.
Eva's long life took her to many places and situations. She was always alert for those around her, who were in need of a helping hand. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of VFW and Disabled Americans. She loved reading, sewing, Dallas Cowboys, Nascar racing and anything connected to her great state of Texas. In her later years, it was such a joy to be stopped at a railroad crossing as the train went by because her family were Santa Fe employees and she loved trains. She liked to tell stories of the good times of her life.
Those left to cherish Eva's memory are her sister-in-law, Irene Harguess; nephews, Terry Diel and family, Jim Diel and family, and Tom Diel and family; as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to Beadles Nursing Home Activity Fund, Box 728, Alva, OK 73717.
