Michael Ray Schneider passed away at his home in Bartlesville, OK and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on May 22, 2023.
Michael was born to George Edward “Ed” Schneider and Dorothy Mae (Metzer) Schneider on December 22, 1956. He graduated valedictorian from Catoosa High School then continued his education earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration with honors from Tulsa University. Michael began his career at Texaco in Tulsa, OK. He worked in accounting for several oilfield companies in various states including Oklahoma, Colorado, and Mississippi. Michael went on to serve as minister at the Methodist Church in Billings, OK, and assisted with bookkeeping duties at numerous churches throughout the years. In recent years he also worked in retail. As an avid animal lover, Michael volunteered as docent at the Tulsa Zoo and the Kansas City Zoo.
Michael enjoyed nature and hiked and biked at any opportunity. His favorite place to experience the joy of the outdoors was in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. He brought his love for nature and animals indoors, caring for his many pets over the years including dogs, birds, frogs, and geckos.
Michael’s lifelong friendships were of great importance to him. He nurtured these friendships throughout his life but was always willing to give time to formulate new friendships as well. Michael was involved in fellowship with Christian believers, wherever his life and travels found him. Most recently, he was an active member of the Church of Christ in Dewey, OK, where he enjoyed sharing his gift of singing.
Michael was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service for Michael will be held on June 13, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Church of Christ in Dewey, OK. The family will receive friends and guests from 1:00-2:00 at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Dewey Church of Christ in remembrance of Michael Schneider.
