George Edward Schmidtka

January 1, 1946 ~ June 23, 2009

George Edward Schmidtka, 63, of Midwest City passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at his home. He was born January 1, 1946 in Oneida, New York to Nelson Charles and Daisy Iva (Diamond) Schmidtka.

George entered into the Regular U.S. Air Force in January 1965 and served his country for almost 4 years during the Vietnam War Era. He married Elizabeth Wyatt. George's last assignment in the Air Force brought him to Tinker AFB. After his discharge, he worked for Dayton Tire Company in Oklahoma City as a tire builder.

George was a Nascar fan, enjoyed hunting, and fishing and telling tall tales of those fishing trips.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Elizabeth and 2 brothers: Gene and Dave.

He is survived by: his son, Steven; daughter, Bobbie Bishop; 4 grandchildren: William, Kyah, Eric and Shane; Brothers: Nelson, Lyle and Dale; sisters-in-law: Loraine and Geneva along with a host of numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be held 1 PM, Friday, July 3, 2009 at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Chapel, Midwest City, OK.
