Ray Anthony Sayles
October 23, 1959 ~ January 13, 2023

RAY ANTHONY SAYLES, 63 of Bartlesville, Oklahoma born October 23, 1959; and passed from this life on January 13, 2023 after a long illness. Ray was born the third oldest son of Buel Clettis and Queenester Clara (Brown) Sayles, raised in Dewey, Oklahoma where he attended Dewey Public Schools alongside his siblings.

Ray accepted Christ at an early age and loved the Lord and was raised with siblings at Miracle Temple Church of Christ, Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Ray enjoyed coaching basketball and football in his early years at the Boys and Girls club as well as playing the guitar for 20 years, loved to cook and was a natural born prankster. After graduating Dewey High School, he attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M college in Miami, Oklahoma, where he met love of his life, Sophia, from this union they have four sons: Travis Anthony; Brandon Louis; Michael Ray; and Keenan James. Ray and Sophia also reared Ray’s niece and nephew: Carnaysha Renee Sayles (Christopher) Tabler and Cainan Sayles as their own daughter and son.

Ray began his career at Phillips Petroleum Company – Corporate Relations and Services Division for over 17 plus years, later left to pursue his passion in MUSIC. He began teaching music in the Bartlesville Community for over 20 years as an Instructor until his passing.

LEFT TO CHERISH IN HIS MEMORY his wife, Sophia (Wilson) Sayles, sons: Travis Anthony; Brandon Louis; Michael Ray; and Keenan James. Grandchildren: Trenton Ray Sayles, Somara Renee Sayles, Isaiah Deshone Sayles; aunt, Sadie Sayles Russell; niece Carnayshia Renee Sayles (Christopher) Tabler and their son Zane; nephew Cainan Sayles. Siblings: Buel (BJ) Sayles, Craig Sayles, Jerry Sayles, Anita Sayles (James) Carey, Ester Sayles, Joseph Sayles, Bobby Sayles, Selina Sayles and Melissa Sayles, sister-in-law Victoria Sayles and a host of family and friends.

Ray is proceeded in death by his brother Jacky Lee Sayles (on 2/23/22) and his parents Buel Clettis Sayles and Queenester (Brown) Sayles.

During their marriage Ray was a wonderful husband, provider, confidant and grandfather (poppa) to three wonderful grandchildren: Trenton Ray; Somara Renee; and Isaiah Deshon. Ray enjoyed playing and listening and teaching guitar to his many students for over 20 years. Ray also loved the Lord and spending time with his family and friends and always willing to help anyone. Ray will truly be missed but God now have safe in his arms, and we know we will see him again.
