Patricia (“Pat”, “Trish”) Saunders, age 73, passed away January 7, 2020 in Garland, Texas.
Patricia was born February 4, 1946 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to George and Alma Moore.
She graduated from Oklahoma School for the Blind in Muskogee, Oklahoma, in 1965. She went on to attend Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts in Chickasha before moving to Oklahoma City where she spent most of her life. She committed her professional and personal time to helping the visually impaired access resources to enable them to overcome daily obstacles. She worked as a receptionist both for the Oklahoma Library for the Blind and the Oklahoma Office of Disability Concerns. She also worked as a communication specialist for the Oklahoma League for the Blind and was a lifetime member of American Council of the Blind.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years LeRoy, mother Alma, father George, and brother Jimmy. She is survived by her daughter Becky Wallace (Johnny) of Louisville, KY, step-son Franklin Saunders (Lynn) of Shawnee, OK, sister Bonnie Bachman (Dick) of Richardson, TX, nephew Scott Bachman (Amanda) of Plano, TX, nephew Brock Moore (Lori), and great-niece Kinsey of Ninnekah, OK, and her beloved dog “Popeye” who brought her years of comfort and companionship. Patricia also leaves behind many other friends and family whom she cherished and loved.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16th at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N. Council Road, Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to American Council of the Blind by going to acb.org/donate.
