Sanderson, Carann Dawn, 59, of Choctaw, Oklahoma, died June 23, 2013 in Nassau of the Bahama Island while on a scuba diving trip. Carann was born April 2, 1954 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Donald and Phyllis Odom.
Carann was a graduate of Guthrie High School and Oklahoma State University. Her lifetime teaching career as a kindergarten teacher at St. Phillp Neri Catholic School and Crutcho Schools touching many young lives. Carann was a longtime member of First Christian Church of Midwest City where she served as a deacon and an officer with the Christian Women"s Fellowship for many years. She was also a member of the Junior Service League of Midwest City and a dedicated fan of Oklahoma State University athletics.
Carann was preceded in death by her father, Donald K. Odom and her sister, Janice Kinkade, both of Guthrie.
She was survived by her mother, Phyllis L. Odom, Guthrie; husband, Bob Sanderson of the home; daughter, Courtney Lawson and boyfriend, Shane White, both of Midwest City; and grandchildren, Ashlyn Marie Lawson and Tanner Rae Lawson, also of Midwest City. Ashlyn and Tanner were the love of Mimi Carann"s life! Carann is also survived by her sister in-law, brother in-law, aunts, uncles, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She will be missed by all of her family, as well as by her great friends and her church family. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to her Pairs and Spares Sunday School class and to her beloved scuba diving buddies, the Cock-a-Doodle Divers.
A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church of Midwest City, located at the corner of Reno and Anderson Road at 2:00 PM on July 13, 2013. There will be a celebration of her life following the services in the Jeanette Clemons" Activity Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the First Christian Church capital campaign or the Children"s Corner Mother"s Day Out program.
