Virgil Franklin Sanders

Virgil Franklin Sanders
May 2, 1924 ~ March 20, 2018

Virgil Franklin Sanders died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Dewey Medical Lodge, which gave him excellent care along with the Comforting Hands Hospice personnel.

He owned and ran his own business, Sanders Welding, for over 50 years. He was an active member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Along with his wife Marie of 53 years, he volunteered to work at the World Headquarters of the Jehovah's Witnesses in New York City in the 70s for three and a half years. In the 80s he volunteered with a group from Tulsa, all Jehovah's Witnesses, who at their own expensive traveled to Costa Rica for two weeks to help with recovery efforts after a Hurricane damaged Kingdom Halls and homes.

He lived in Pawhuska for 25 years before moving to Bartlesville. He loved to garden and had tomato plants that were as tall as he was. As he was raising his family he was diligent in summer family vacations that included attending large summer conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses and then exploring the surrounding areas. One such event was touring Pike's Peak with snow on top in the summer and then removing his shirt and laying in the snow. His adventures also included trying out roller blades at the age of 76. Both events are recorded with pictures.

He is survived by his children Lois Lee of Bartlesville and Eunice Reeves of Tulsa, along with the children of Lois and Johnnie Lee, Tabitha Williams (husband Josh), Naman Lee (wife Kathy), and Tonya Lee, all from Bartlesville & will dearly miss him. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Kalan, Jordan, Jaci, Madeline, Ky, Sean, and Leila.

He is at rest now and his awakening in the resurrection to a paradise earth is soon to come.

Private family services will be held at a later date
