Randy Dwane Sanders was born on December 31, 1956 in Amarillo, Texas. He passed away on April 9, 2017 at Integris Hospice House of Oklahoma City after a short battle with cancer at the age of 60 years, 3 months, and 9 days.
Randy graduated from Sayre High school in 1975 and then enlisted in the United States Army and worked in the motor pool where he achieved the rank of E5. Randy was stationed in Nurnberg, Germany where he met the love of his life, Pia Alhborn, while she was visiting her grandmother. Seven months later while on leave, they returned to Sayre and were married on July 9, 1977. They returned to Germany for one year to finish Randy’s tour of duty and then moved back to Sayre in 1978 to make their home. They were blessed a year later on March 21, 1979 with the arrival of their only child, Joe Sanders.
Randy retired from Kinder Morgan after 28 years of service. Shortly after that, he retired from the Sayre Fire Department after 20 years of service. After retirement, he started working as a Pipeline Inspector and enjoyed life while traveling with Pia. They loved stopping at as many Triple D Diners, Drive-ins and Dive locations while on the road. One of their fondest memories will be their time in Flagstaff, Arizona and their helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon. Randy loved to hunt, fish, and spend time watching his grandkids along with their many activities. He was passionate about spending time with his family and made that his first priority.
He was preceded in death by his father, M. D. "Sandy" Sanders, grandparents, Ed and Edith Sanders, a sister, Deborah Hughes and a brother, Rodney Crawford, along with two aunts and three uncles.
