Peggy Ellen Sanders, 88, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on April 23, 2026.
Born on February 24, 1938, in Cleveland, Oklahoma, Peggy was the daughter of David and Mary Sanders. She grew up with a strong sense of family as one of eleven children, all of whom preceded her in death.
In the mid-1960s, Peggy attended beauty college in Collinsville, where she graduated with honors at the top of her class. She went on to open her own salon,Peggy’s Chat and Curl, in her home at 721 S. Shawnee Street in Bartlesville. She was proud of her work and the relationships she built with her clients and community.
Peggy was deeply involved in her family’s life. She served as a Cub Scout den mother and enjoyed spending her free time bowling at Strike More Lanes, where she was an avid bowler. She also loved camping, fishing, and watching sporting events—interests she continued to enjoy throughout her life. In her younger years, she earned numerous awards during her school years, reflecting her drive and determination.
Throughout her life, Peggy held long and meaningful careers, including positions with PSO and later the Examiner-Enterprise. She was known for her work ethic, independence, and devotion to her family.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Sanders; son, David Sanders; as well as her parents and all ten of her siblings.
She is survived by her sons, Scott Sanders and Tim Sanders and wife Heather of Bartlesville; her grandchildren, Shayla Sanders of Bartlesville, Hunter Sanders and wife Briana of Forney, Texas, and Taryn Ford of Bartlesville; and her great-grandchildren, Colt and Presley Ford of Bartlesville.
Peggy will be remembered for her strength, her love of family, and the simple joys she found in everyday life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Journey Home in her memory.
