J.C. Sanders was born August 19, 1941 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Slick Sanders and Esther (Murphy) Sanders. He passed from this life on July 26, 2021 at the Stilwell Nursing Home at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 7 days.
J.C. enjoyed attending services at Echota Baptist Church and Sanders Flat Baptist Church where he most recently attended. He loved reading his Bible and taught out of the Cherokee Bible at church. He loved going to town for a meal, shopping and spending time visiting with friends. J.C. had a love for cats and other animals and he enjoyed growing his own vegetable garden. J.C. often attended funeral services of families he knew to help bring comfort and encouragement to them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Slick and Esther Sanders and his siblings, Mace Sanders, Tom Sanders, Charley Sanders, Gene Sanders, Grover Sanders, Ella Stahl and Polly Eagle.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews and their children, a special friend, George Scott, brother-in-law, Levi Eagle, special cousins, Felix Sanders and Frances Volkman and many other friends and church family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Stilwell Memorial Hospital, Stilwell Nursing Homes and New Century Hospice and other caregivers that took special care of him.
