Alta Jean Sanders longtime Ponca City resident passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born September 7, 1932 in Mountain Park, Oklahoma to Benjamin and Lillie Slaybaugh Wear and Alta was raised by her step father Ray Large.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019 in the Grace Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Waterloo of Central Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 am to 8 p.m. Cremation arrangements are in care of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City.
Alta grew up in Oklahoma and she graduated from Ponca City High School in 1950. She married Leeland Roy Sanders September 23, 1950 and became a stay at home mom until their separation in 1983. Alta worked for the Ponca City nursing home for 17 years retiring in 1998. She was also a member of the Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include: 1 son; Mark and wife Teresa Sanders of Ponca City, OK, 2 daughters; Patricia Frantz and husband Randall of Garden City, GA; Connie Erickson and husband Mike of Ponca City, OK. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Eddie Isam, Erin and James Marsh, Stephen Frantz, Samuel Frantz, Rachel Frantz, Caleb and Ashley Erickson, and Daniel Erickson and Fiancé Leah Bosworth. Also surviving are great grandchildren Emmalynn, Eden, and Robin.
Alta was preceded in death by her parents; Lillie and Ray Large, father; Ben Wear, sisters; Laura Horne, Shirley Snow, 2 brothers; Benjamin Wear and Bert Wear.
