Betty June (Gilchrist) Sander was born on July 8, 1941 in Taloga, Oklahoma. She was born to James Ray and Berta June Gilchrist.
Betty grew up in the Taloga and Putnam area and attended school in this area until the 4th grade when she moved to Seiling where she attended and later graduated from.
On October 17, 1958 Betty married Lanny Ralph Sander at Watonga, OK. To this union was blessed three sons; Kirk, Kent, and Kyle. For a few years they lived in the town of Seiling, but in 1975 they moved to the family farm outside of Seiling. For all the years of her married life Betty was a faithful wife and mother, serving as the homemaker for her family. She was always preparing the family meals, and was very good at it.
Betty was a member of the Richmond Country Church, where she could be found on Sundays. She was also a member of the Young Homemakers of America, the Young Mothers Club, the Rainbow Girls, a Rainbow Mother Adviser, the Past-Matron of the Eastern Star, and was the First Lady of Oklahoma Masonry for 2000. Betty knew how to find good deals shopping, often shopping on Black Friday, but she really enjoyed shopping for birthdays. Her talents as a homemaker extended to crafts as well, and she could often be found making jewelry, knitting, or canning. But most of all, Betty loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would teach her grandchildren how to make pies, and would often attend their sporting events.
