February 21, 1965 ~ September 5, 2022 (age 57)

Christine “Christy” Sams, 57, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Monday, September 5, 2022 in Shawnee.

She was born February 21, 1965 to Russell Bruce and Aileen (Little Axe) Ellis in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Christy was raised in Shawnee and graduated with the class of 1983 from Shawnee High School. She lived most of her adult life in Tecumseh. She attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.

Christy was a proud member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe. She enjoyed playing bingo, watching soap operas and shopping; and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Bruce and Linda Ellis; and Aileen (Little Axe) Ellis; grandparents, Frank and Edna Little Axe and Joyce and Charlie Ellis.

Survivors include her husband, Tim Sams of the home; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Jordan Delaware of Tecumseh, OK; 1 son, Andrew Aspen of Oklahoma City, OK; 2 grandchildren, Ian Delaware and Corina Delaware; 4 sisters and brothers-in-law, Shannon and Donnie Smith of Tecumseh, OK, Holly Ellis and Ben Coffee of Shawnee, OK, Andrea and Jerome Harrison of Johnson, OK and Denea and R.B. Burgess of Seminole, OK; 2 brothers and sister-in-law, Phillip Ellis and Pamela of Pawnee, OK and Kevin Ellis of Shawnee, OK; aunts and uncles, Donna and Joe Jones, Carol Haney and Lorene Little Jim; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 8, 2022. Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Victor Cope, First Indian Baptist Church in Moore, OK officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
