E. June (Higgs) Sampson 99 of Caddo, Oklahoma passed away Thursday September 26, 2024 at Durant, Oklahoma. She was born May 28, 1925 at Burneville, Oklahoma.
In 1941 Mrs. Sampson married Preston Sampson at Durant, Oklahoma. Mrs. Sampson worked side by side with her husband and later four children to run a very successful dairy farm. She was a very hard working person teaching her children by example to care for the land and animals. She loved being outdoors tending to the farm and almost always had a large vegetable garden. Mrs. Sampson spent many long nights canning those vegetables making sure the family had plenty good meals. She seemed to always find time to participate in community functions. Later in life Mrs. Sampson had many hobbies. She loved ceramics and made family and friends many lovely pieces. She and her husband loved working together making different woodworking projects. She loved to sing. She was the harmony to her husband for more than 70 years.
Mrs.Sampson is survived by son Ted Sampson and wife Billie of Durant, Oklahoma, daughter Betty Nickles of Caddo, Oklahoma, daughter Mary Tate and husband Mike of Durant, Oklahoma, Grandchildren Michelle Nickles of Caddo, Wayne Sampson and wife Denese of Coleman, Ok. Chad Sampson and wife Gina of Shawnee, Ok. Everett Williams and wife Velvin of Caddo, OK, Angela Beedle and husband Mike of Richardson, TX. Leslie Gootos and husband Peter of Grapevine, TX, Tanya Williams Durant, OK. Many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren also many nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Sampson was preceded in death by husband Preston Sampson, parents Luther Higgs and Minnie Griffin Higgs, father and mother in-law Simp and Nora White Sampson, son David Preston Sampson, Archie Wayne Sampson, siblings Theodore (Ted) Higgs, Dave Higgs, Beth Fincher, Luther Higgs, Mary Lee Northcutt, Johnny Robert (Bobby) Higgs, Yvonne Cozbey Jordan.
Two grandsons will lead a memorial service, time and place still pending.
