A Celebration of Life for Richard E Salladay, 52, of Enid, will be Friday, February 12, 2016, 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church with Pastor Kelly Russell officiating. Cremation is under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Richard passed away February 8, 2016.
Richard was born March 14, 1963 in Enid, OK the son of Richard Salladay Sr. and Mary Jordan Salladay. He was a graduate of Enid High School in 1981. He was united in marriage to Brenda Roberson August 30, 1997 in Enid, OK. Richard was employed at Vance Air Force Base as a fuel specialist. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and family vacations. He gave special attention to planning his vacations, mapping out directions and planning places to visit. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he taught the third grade Sunday school class.
He was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2009 and had several close encounters with death. He would tell others that he was in a win-win situation. It was a win if he lived, he got to stay with his family and if he died, he would be with his heavenly father. Richard was also diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2015. He fought the good fight.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda, a daughter, Sarah Salladay of Enid, three sons, James Roberson, Jonathan Roberson and Jacob Roberson and his wife, Tasha all of Enid, a granddaughter, Brianna, two brothers, Davey Salladay and Danny Salladay of Enid and a sister, Susan Owens of Delta, CO, other family members and a host of friends, including his former pastor, Rev. Keith Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lymphoma Foundation or OMRF Foundation, Esophageal division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home custodian of the funds.
