Memorial services celebrating the life of Patricia (Pat) Ann Sage, 75, of Enid, will be held privately under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Pat was born September 21, 1945, to Robert Ruehle and Marguerite (McMartin) Ruehle in Concordia, Kansas, and passed away on December 5, 2020, in Enid, Oklahoma. While living at Lake Lottawana, Missouri, she attended Van Horn High School in Independence, Missouri, graduating in 1961. When attending Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas, she met her husband-to-be of fifty-five years, Hugh Sage. The couple was married on September 4, 1965, in the First Methodist Church of Omaha, Nebraska. She completed education and certification as a Dental Assistant while in Omaha, and worked in that capacity for a number of years.
The couple moved to Beatrice, Nebraska, in 1969, where she owned and operated a uniform shop, the Hodge Podge, and was later employed by the Beatrice Board of Education as the High School principal’s secretary. They moved to Topeka, Kansas, in 1995 to follow his career, where she was employed for four years by the Kansas Association of School Boards. In 2000, they moved to Enid, Oklahoma, when Hugh became the CEO of Liberty of Oklahoma Corporation. For four years until her retirement in 2005, she was employed by Nicholas Realty.
Pat was an active member of P.E.O. chapters in Beatrice and Enid, and kept in close contact with the many friends they had made in Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma. She was a quilter and, for the past twenty years, had become a dedicated creator of greeting cards which she enjoyed gifting to relatives and her many friends.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Hugh Sage; one son, James Alexander Sage, his wife, Cherie, a granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Sage, of Topeka, Kansas; and a brother, Ernest Ruehle, of Oakland, Iowa.
The family requests that no flowers be sent, but memorials may be given in her honor to the P.E.O Educational Loan Fund or the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as the custodian of the funds.
Condolences and special memories may be shared with the family online at www.Brown-Cummings.com.
