Jerilyn Jean (Thesman) Ruttan

October 16, 1948 ~ August 06, 2018

Jerilyn Jean Ruttan, 69, Overland Park, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018, at Mercy Hospital Hospice Care, with her family by her side. 

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS, 66210. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 19th at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens. 

Jerilyn was born Oct. 16, 1948, in Enid. She was a native of Kremlin. After graduating from Tabor College, she began a teaching career in the Kansas City area where she met her husband of 47 years. 

She was preceded in death by a father, Ruben Thesman. 

Jerilyn is survived by her husband, Phillip Ruttan; her children and their spouses, Phillip and Jeanine Ruttan, Melissa Ruttan and Mary DiGirlamo, David and Kim Ruttan; her grandchildren, Billy Ruttan, Alyssa Ruttan, Madyson Ruttan, Carleton Ruttan, Alexander DiGirlamo, Wyatt DiGirlamo, Rosemary DiGirlamo, Ezra Shockey, Dylan (DJ) Ruttan; mother, Sophia Thesman; sisters and brother-in-law, Rita Sue Schmidt, Carol and Jim Wink; brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Kenda Thesman, Tim and Becky Thesman; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

A special thank you to all the nurses, and staff at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City who gave wonderful care to our Mother. 

Jerilyn was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, grandma, sister and aunt. She loved being surrounded by family. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and taking care of her family. Her strength and courage were an inspiration to everyone, especially her family. She was always there when anyone needed her, loved unconditionally and truly had a heart of gold.

She will be remembered as someone who always put others before herself. Jerilyn will be deeply missed by her family and those who knew her.
