Wayne Howard Russell
May 13, 1949 ~ October 24, 2023

Wayne Howard Russell, age 74 of Okla. City, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Born May 13, 1949 in Okla. City, he was the youngest of three sons born to James Lawrence Russell and Lucille Evelyn (Davis) Russell. Wayne was raised in Okla. City and attended school there, graduating from U.S. Grant High School with the Class of 1967.

He served in the Oklahoma Air National Guard from 1969-1975.

Wayne raised two children, daughter Tammy and son Robert. He made his living as a truck driver, and logged countless miles under CB handle “Blue Devil”. He retired from Magerus Trucking after nearly 30 years of service. Wayne cherished his family, and especially enjoyed chasing his grandkids at their various activities and events. He stayed close with his friends and checked in on many of them weekly. Wayne looked forward to new excursions including days trips with friends and family. He lived a simple life, he worked hard and he kept to himself. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a true friend. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: his parents, James Lawrence and Lucille Russell.

Wayne is survived by: his daughter, Tammy Clay and husband Tommy of Newcastle; his son, Robert Russell and wife Nancy of Lewisville, TX; his brothers, Charlie Russell and wife Cathy of Atlanta, GA and George Russell of Edmond; his nephews, Charlie Russell ll of Edina, MN, Peter Russell of Torrance, CA, and Christopher Russell of Shoreacres, TX; his pride and joy, grandchildren, Walker Clay, Brittani Clay, Malcolm Russell, Marissa Russell, Jayden Clay and Marcus Russell, and a host of other family and friends.

A Memorial visitation will be from 1-7 P.M. Friday, November 3, 2023 at Wilson-Little, Newcastle, OK 3132 Tri-City Ave. Newcastle, OK 73065. Family will be available to greet relatives and friends from 4-7 P.M.
