Jeff was born in Fort Worth, Texas on April 21, 1961. Jeff spent his childhood years in Ada, and Allen, Oklahoma. From a young age, he enjoyed the outdoors. While living in Atwood, Oklahoma, Jeff and his sister, Delyna spent many hours swimming at the local watering hole and playing outside. Jeff attended grade school and high school in Oklahoma. After graduating, Jeff entered the Army and received an honorable discharge. Later he took his love of nature and exceptional intelligence to work as an oil field geologist. Jeff especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses and caring for various animals. He often assisted Delyna when she was training horses.
Jeff was known for being tenderhearted, thoughtful and kind. Jeff loved his family. He was an exceptional cook, known for his delicious barbecue. One time his barbecue sauce made it all the way to Delyna while she was stationed in Japan with the US Navy. Her fellow sailors relished in this special treat from Texas.
In the last years of his life, Jeff was dedicated to caring for his mother, Retha, who he loved dearly. He cooked, tended to the garden which often flourished every summer with flowers, zucchini, corn and okra. On the Mothers Day before he passed away, Jeff spent the day delivering fresh bouquets of flowers to many of the women in Higgins.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents Retha and Lee Russell. He is survived by his sister, Delyna Russell of Bremerton Washington, Aunts, Patricia Parnell, Barbara Reeves, Gail Vaughn, Charlene Russell Robins, Rose Sickel, Barbara Russell and Uncle Cecil Russell. Jeff is also survived by numerous other family and friends. Jeff and Trixie (Rethas dog) passed away at their home in Higgins, Texas on May 11, 2016.
As Jeff so loved the outdoors, consider donating to the national parks in his memory. Or simply plant a flower or take a walk in nature. On behalf of Jeff and his family, thank you for your prayers, kindness and love.
