Kenneth Duane Rowland departed this life on Friday, January 12, 2024. He was born Monday, February 23, 1942 in Durant, Oklahoma to Louis Edgar and Ina Fay (Campbell) Rowland.
Most of his life he and his family lived near Pleasant Hill, but also changed locations frequently when his dad worked for an oil company. After graduating Caddo High School, Kenneth worked as a welder for Peabody-Galion. Then he joined the Army Reserves serving for six years. Following his six months of active duty he returned to work for Peabody-Galion and married his classmate, Judy Kaye Joines, in 1964. They moved to Euless, Texas where she taught school and he trained as a machinist and worked for LTV in Grand Prairie.
While living there they had one son, Maxie Duane, and shortly after his birth they moved back to Caddo so he could attend school there and be around family and friends. Kenneth began training horses for Dr. John Owens and trained the National Paint Horse champion, named Bang Up 2. Later he raised cattle, and became a substitute mail carrier. When Judy retired from teaching, so did he, so they could do some traveling and spend more time with the cows and horses. He loved raising and training horses as well as taking mule-riding and camping trips. His cows were always a priority and received excellent care.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Rowland, and his parents-in-law, Paul and Catherine Joines.
He is survived by his loving wife Judy; son Maxie and wife Jennifer; brothers David Rowland and wife Wanda, and Michael Rowland and wife Marty; sister Donna Fay Jobe and husband Noble; sister-in-law Brenda Rowland; brother-in-law Joe Joines and wife WaNeene; nine nieces and nephews, and his lap buddy, a corgi named Birdie.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 16, at the Caddo Church of Christ.
Kenneth’s funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 17, at the Caddo Church of Christ. There will be no graveside service. Those serving at his service will be relatives; Brian Campbell, Jeff, Shawn, and Evan Rowland, Jason and Derek Joines, Barry Edwards and friend, Seth Karn.
The family wishes to give a special Thank You to Centric Hospice for the excellent care and loving service to Kenneth in his final months of life.
