Darrell E. Rowe, lifelong resident of Blackwell, died Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at his home. He was 68.
A service to celebrate Darrell’s life was held at noon on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at the Top of Oklahoma Museum in Blackwell.
Darrell Eugene Rowe, the son of Roy Eugene and Leta Pauline (Bonewell) Rowe, was born in Blackwell, OK on October 13, 1954. He grew up in Blackwell where he attended Parkside Elementary school. Darrell graduated from Blackwell High School in 1973.
On September 20, 1974, Darrell was united in marriage to Linda S. Isreal in Ponca City. They made their home in Blackwell and were blessed with one daughter. Darrell was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and tending to his gardening.
Growing up among five sisters, he learned early on the value of being a gentleman. Despite his sisters childhood teasing, he always remained a devoted brother supporting his sisters and brothers through thick and thin. Darrell was a true family man, always wanting to bring people together for reunions and get togethers. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with “his girls”, especially his three year old great-granddaughter, Maia. He adored her and was always ready to make a special trip to Braums, just for her.
Although his physical presence may no longer be with us, his spirit will live on through his family and all the lives that he touched. He will be greatly missed.
Family members include his wife Linda, of the home; one daughter Icel Celeste Rowe of Ponca City; five sisters, Marilyn Dyer of Winfield, KS, Kay Rohrs and husband David of Blackwell, Gayle Cunningham of Blackwell, Diane Spry of Blackwell and brother Troy Rowe also of Blackwell; granddaughter Paige Lauren McHenry; great-granddaughter, Maia Raye Lauren McHenry and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Harold Rowe; one brother, Roger Rowe and one sister, Verla Webb.
Memorials may be made to the Maia Raye Lauren McHenry Education Fund, c/o Paige McHenry; #8 N 40 Rd. Ponca City, OK 74601
