Douglas Gale "Doug" Routh of Kenefic, OK passed away at his home Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the age of 64. He was born on December 18, 1953 in Des Moines, IA to Gale "Bud" Alden Routh and Geraldine (Gearhart) Routh.
Doug lived most of his life in Iowa and after graduation, he enlisted into the United States Army. He met and married the love of his life, Johnette Thompson in 1996. They spent 22 wonderful years together. Doug was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Union Pacific Railroad for 37 years, a position he was very proud of. But the title he cherished the most was "Poppy" to his grandchildren. After retirement, he spent his spare time working on his farm and spending time in his barn with Buddy, his horse.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gale "Bud" Routh; his only son, Joseph Elias Routh; and his grandparents.
Loved ones left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Johnette of the home; three daughters, Emily Haines and husband Bob of Des Moines, IA; Tiffany Aziere and husband Brian of Stillwater, OK; Tessa Price and husband Kevin Jones of Durant, OK; seven grandchildren, Sadie Haines, Alden Haines, Jade Bowman, Blake Aziere, Izaha Jones, Bently Jones, and Olivia Jones; mother, Geraldine Routh of Newton, IA; brother, Mike Routh and wife Kim of Newton, IA; sister, Linda Mahoney and husband Bob of Oxford, IA; special uncle, Virgil Gearhart of Newton, IA along with other extended family members and dear friends.
A coffee and cake reception remembering Doug Routh will be held Saturday December 22, 2018 1:00pm -4:00pm at the Bryan County Community Center 1901 S 9th Ave Durant, OK 74701.
