Roger Vann Ross, 72, of Indianola, died Monday, May 10, 2021 at his residence.
The family will greet friends and visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Choate Prairie Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Choate Prairie Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Mike Ross.
Roger was born to Ira F. and Mollie Vann (Gladd) Ross on November 2, 1948 in Tahlequah. He attended Ft. Gibson Schools until moving to Indianola in 1965. Roger graduated from Indianola High School in 1966.
He served in the Oklahoma National Guard for four years. He then attended Eastern Oklahoma State College and graduated from East Central University.
Roger married DeeDee Ragan on August 30, 1996 in Germantown, Tennessee.
He had a successful career working in the commercial marina industry, and currently with Mari Corp as a Territory Sales Manager for a combination of 48 years. He owned and operated Rocking R cattle ranch in the Indianola area.
He was a talented singer and musician, writing and singing his own songs. He was a member of the “Circuit Riders” for many years, singing at Jon’s Kountry Korner on Friday nights.
He was an active member of Choate Prairie Baptist Church where he was the song leader and taught Sunday school. Roger enjoyed spending time with all of his grandchildren, dining out, and traveling.
Roger was preceded in death by his mother: Mollie Vann (Gladd) Ross; grandson: Gunnar White, and a great-niece: Audra Tucker.
He is survived by his father: Ira F. Ross of Ft. Gibson; wife: DeeDee of the home; son: John Ross and wife, Desiree of Indianola; stepdaughters: Jamee Lemaster and husband, Chadd of Garnett, Kansas, Melissa McKee and husband, Jerad of Indianola; grandchildren: Barrett Ross, Wyatt Ross, Ragan Foster and husband, Stephen, Morgan Lemaster, River Lemaster, Parker Lemaster, Madison White, Cole McKee; one great-grandchild on the way; brothers: Frank Ross and wife, Sue of Muskogee, Mike Ross and wife, Betty of Indianola; sister: Mary Gatlin of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
