Sylvia Marie Rogers was born January 9, 1930 in Texas to the late Johnnie and Bessie Rhodes. She was 4th of 11 children, 8 who have preceded her in death. Sylvia and her siblings were raised in Manitou, Oklahoma. Where she met and married James Willie Rogers and from this union 3 children were born. Her oldest son who preceded her in death. She then moved to Compton, California where she built her life. She was a homemaker for many years until she went to work in a domestic capacity for many years. Sylvia was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on October 18, 1958. She was a regular pioneer for over 40 years. Her focus was to teach people about the only true God Jehovah and his purpose of a paradise here on Earth. She served Jehovah faithfully until she became ill. But that did not stop her. She could not go out to pioneer any longer but she never passed up on an opportunity to minister to anyone. She came across no matter where she was.
