Madred Ellen Rogers, of Duncan, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, at the age of 93. She was born on April 1, 1925, in Damascus, Arkansas, to Edward Patrick and Mary Ellen (Garrison) Murphy.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, at 11:00 AM in the Marlow First Baptist Church Chapel, with Rev. Rick Vermillion officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Madred graduated from Marlow High School. She married Jasper Jason (J.J.) Rogers on November 20, 1945, in Duncan. They had 7 children, Dorsey, Mary Lou, Aaron, Keith, Denise, Patricia, and Michael. J.J. preceded her in death on September 5, 1994.
She worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell until 1951. She loved to read books written by Louis L'Amour, Nicolas Sparks, and James Patterson. Her favorite pastime was to travel; she made trips to Europe, including Holland, on cruises, and to Las Vegas several times. She especially loved her family.
Madred is survived by her children, Dorsey and wife Emily Rogers of Texas, Mary Lou Woody of Duncan, Keith and wife Stacy Rogers of Tuttle, Denise Seay of Duncan, Patricia and husband Albert van der Breggen of Duncan, and Michael Rogers of Duncan; 11 grandchildren, Pamela Woody, Stacie and husband Bill Packard, David and wife Heather Seay, Cindy and husband Richard Johnson, Jason and wife Kim Seay, James and wife Erica Rogers, Steven and wife Linda Woody, Daniel and wife Melissa Rogers, Gina and husband Shane Collins, Carissa and husband Richard Sheppard, and Jace van der Breggen; 22 great grandchildren; and special friend, Auro Nair.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.J. Rogers; son, Aaron Lee Rogers; parents, Edward and Mary Murphy; brothers, Billy Murphy and James Edward Murphy; and sister, Margaret Britt.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Rick Peck, and Auro Nair.
