Loretta Latrice (Hammons) Rogers

Loretta Latrice (Hammons) Rogers
August 9, 1950 ~ August 16, 2017 (age 67)

Loretta Latrice Hammons-Rogers (Latrice) passed peacefully from this life and went on to be with our Lord on August 16th, 2017 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Latrice was born on August 9, 1950 to Dave Milton Hammons and Loma Loretta Smith-Hammons at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was later in life informally adopted by Mama Sue and Papa Ron of Ardmore, Ok. She lived a full life, residing mostly in the Ringling, Oklahoma area, but also spent many years in Lone Grove, Comanche, Ardmore, and most recently, Duncan, Oklahoma.

Latrice had 6 brothers, Mark, Dave "Dobbin", Thurman, David, Steve and two sisters, Karen and Pam, and was married to Jerry Black in the late 70s-mid 80s, with whom she had 2 sons, Jesse and J.D., and was also proud to be mom to Jerry's older sons, Johnny and Jimmy.

Her long-time friend, Dianne Hammons, was a part of her family as well, as they had a bond that would never be broken. She was cheerful and welcoming to everyone she would meet and loved being around people, often being the life of the event. She never seemed to meet a stranger and always had a kind word and a helping hand for those who needed it, without even being asked. She seemed to have a knack for knowing when someone needed a smile, and never hesitated to offer hers.

Latrice was industrious and stayed busy most of the time, she was employed full time for 20 years at the Carter County District Attorney's office in the division of Child Support Enforcement, and was very passionate about her job. Latrice Retired from the D.A.'s office in 2011, and spent the last 6 years of her life enjoying the company of her children and grandchildren, and concentrating on the gardening she has always loved. Latrice was very special and very much loved. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by everyone.

Latrice was preceded in death by her mother and father, Loma and Dave Hammons, husband Jerry Black, a brother, Steve Shaw, and one son, Johnny Black.

Latrice had a large family, and was survived by: Her sons, Jimmy Black and wife Miranda of Duncan, Jesse Black and wife Rebekah of Comanche, and Jerry "J.D." Black of Duncan. Her 2nd Mother, Mama Sue and husband Papa Ron Hawkins of Ardmore, Her brothers, Mark Hammons and wife Pam of Wilson, Dave "Dobbin" Hammons and partner Laela of Lone Grove, Thurman Hammons of Wilson, George Shaw and wife Bridgette of Davis, David Shaw and wife Kelly of Texas, and her sisters Karen Paul of Ringling, and Pam Shaw-Hays and husband Mark of Healdton. Her grandchildren from son Jesse - Jessie, Jemma, Jonah, Jess, Jacob, and Katlyn, from son J.D. - Jace, From Son Johnny - Jason, From Son Jimmy - Derric, Jessica, Jacey, Jeremy, Kimberlin, and Jason. She had Great Grandchildren as well - Jada, Cayden, Ola, Jackson, Elizabeth, Emilyn, Kyson, and Patrick. There were many others who grew up with "Aunt Trice", some of whom include Cody Black, wife Brandy and their children of Ringling, Melissa Lyons, Husband Scott and their children of Texas, Jennifer Burden of Wilson, and our resident troubadour, Dylan Stewart. There were many others in her life who she loved and who loved her that considered her family, and if we have left anyone out, please know that to Latrice, you were a very special part of her life and you will never be forgotten.
