Funeral services for Fred Rogers, age 98 were held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2006 at Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David L. Young officiating.
Interment followed at Kansas Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons; Charlie Rogers, J.R. Philpott, Kenny Gifford, Freddie Rogers, Scotty Rogers, Eddie Rogers, Bobby Bennett and Randy Bennett. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Gifford, Mike Cooper, Mike Butler, Chris Trammell, Bob McLauglin, Bart Trammell, Jim Hollinback, Steven Curtis, Wayne Sloan and L.D. Kirk.
Fred Rogers was born to Charles and Carrie (Bengle) Rogers on December 27, 1907 in Fairland, Oklahoma and passed from this life on February 28, 2006 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Fred was a longtime resident of Stilwell before moving to Tahlequah. Fred was self employed in real estate and enjoyed buying and selling property. He also enjoyed being outdoors camping and fishing and especially enjoyed fox hunting.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leona Adeline Simkins Rogers; a daughter, Alice Curtis, son, Gene Rogers; sister, Nellie Mattox; brother, Claude Rogers and a half brother, Roy Rogers.
Fred is survived by eight children, Junior Rogers and wife Evelyn of Tahlequah, James Rogers and wife Marvell of Rose, Eunice Roach and husband Hal of Franklin Springs, GA., Luvena Rogers of Tahlequah, Cecil Rogers and wife Jean of Peggs, Mae Sloan, Kay Rogers and Ruth Taylor all of Tahlequah; one brother, Everett Rogers of Tahlequah; 24 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
